CALL TO ORDER
President Brad Dunlop called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
ADOPTION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES
Susan Steen (along with Danny Moore, campaign chair, and Liz Woods) talked about the upcoming United Way campaign. Building Better Tomorrows is the theme. Liz Woods is the board chair and Ron Bobowski the labour chair. The kick off breakfast was held Sept. 6, the Ramada drive-through breakfast is 6-9 a.m. Sept. 20. Also planned is a Day of Caring, where employers will let their employees go for a day to help non-profit groups, likely third week of October.

M/S/C to adopt June, July and August financial reports as circulated.
M/S/C to increase our monthly contribution to political action account from $500 to $600
EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORT/ACTION CORRESPONDENCE
a) Kelowna Women's Resource Centre seeking sponsorships for a July fundraiser - receive and file
b) Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives B.C. Solutions Fund annual appeal - M/S/C to donate $50.
c) BC Federation of Labour would like us to endorse Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC's position paper on Equity for Working Families and Their Children. (June 14) - M/S/C to endorse
d) Red Cross annual campaign donation request - receive and file (We're expecting more specific donation requests in the future.)
e) BC NDP convention, Nov. 16-18. We expect we'll be entitled to one delegate and are looking for nominations/volunteers. M/S/C to table to October meeting.
f) Camp Jubilee thank you letter from Darius Pomeroy was read out at the meeting.
REPORTS OF LOCAL UNIONS, COMMITTEE REPORTS, CLC REPORT
A couple of verbal reports were given. Reports must be in writing to be included in minutes.
a) Gord Larkin retirement dinner, Sept. 20 in Vancouver. We have four tickets. They've all been spoken for.
b) BC Federation of Labour convention call, Nov. 26-28. We will send three delegates as per past practice (full coverage except lost wages for first delegate; registration, mileage and per diem for second delegate; registration only for third delegate). Nominations opened: Brad Dunlop nominated. Dave Porteous nominated for the third delegate (registration-only) position. Nominations will be reopened at October 10 meeting in Vernon.
a) Vacant executive positions -- We have two vacant positions -- vice-president and northern delegate and are seeking nominations/volunteers to fill out the 2007-08 terms. A call will be put out again at the October Vernon meeting.
b) Westside municipal election -- We invite candidates in the November 17 election to seek our endorsement and support.

Karen Abramsen - Council of Canadians - The C of C AGM and weekend workshops will take place in Kelowna on Oct. 27-28. This is the first time the national AGM is being held outside a 'major' centre. Key speakers will include Maude Barlow. Workshops will take place during Saturday and there will be a number of topics covered. Yours truly, Karen Abramsen, will be receiving an activist award at the Saturday night banquet. The event will take place at the Coast Capri Hotel.
International Walk to School Day is October 3.
