STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Political Action: Karen Abramsen, UFCW 1518 - The NOLC Political Action Committee needs to do an evaluation on the Counsellors and School Trustees (Kelowna, Vernon and Lake Country) who received endorsement and funds from the North Okanagan Labour Council in the last civic election. The committee will begin this process in the New Year.

CLC Report: none

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Remembrance Day -- on behalf of the NOLC a wreath will be presented by NOLC, Central Delegate, Helen Repole, BCGEU and President, Andrew Pritchard, Unite Here Local 40, at the Rutland Ceremony 11:00 am Monday November 11, 2013. Our Remembrance Day ad has been placed in the Kelowna Daily Courier.

NEW BUSINESS: CLC Winter School -- Canadian Labour Congress, www.canadianlabour.ca
NOLC has one open scholarship, and NOLC sometimes sends a second delegate to Labour Council Development. There are two additional scholarships as follows:
1. Frank Wall Leadership scholarship - course, Parliamentary Procedure & Public Speaking
2. Community Savings Credit Union scholarship - course; Women in Leadership (additional info www.comsavings.com)
Dec 19th is registration deadline. The delegates attending will be determined at the December 4, 2013 NOLC meeting.

NOLC Christmas Social -- there will be a social following our Dec 4, 2013 NOLC meeting.

NOLC Union Affiliate delegates to NOLC -- NOLC needs to update all union affiliate credentials, please have your union fill out the delegates to your union form and return by the January 8, 2014 meeting. It is enclosed/attached to this email. Thank you.

NDP Tri-Constituency -- Westside Kelowna/Kelowna Lake Country/Kelowna Mission -- Christmas Celebration Fundraiser, Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Bunches Bistro, Kelowna, with special guest speaker, Judy Darcy, NDP Health Critic. A motion was made that the NOLC purchase 6 tickets, 2 for each Constituency. M/S/C A motion was made that the NOLC allow Karen Abramsen to allocate the 6 Labour Council sponsored tickets with priority to given unionized members within the 3 constituencies M/S/C

IKEA lockout -- Carole Gordon, COTA, spoke about the IKEA lockout, & the members of Teamsters Local Union No. 213 on the picket line.

Council of Canadians -- Karen Abramsen UFCW 1518
Council of Canadians is hosting an event on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 7:00 pm featuring; Dr. Thierry Vrain, a retired genetic engineer who after a 30 year career with Agriculture Canada now speaks against GE technology and Dr. Shiv Chopra, a former Health Canada senior scientific advisor and now a whistle blower on GE goods. Place: Okanagan College, Lecture Theatre, KLO Campus, admission by donation.
