Council of Canadians - The AGM, held Oct. 26-28 in Kelowna, was a huge success, by all accounts. About 170 people attended and there were great panels and workshops on such issues as public energy, health care, water and TILMA. As usual, Maude Barlow was an inspirational speaker on many topics. She also had a book launch of her latest book, "Blue Covenant."

Liz Woods - Park and Pay for the United Way takes place Nov. 24 at Orchard Park mall, the first late-night opening of the Christmas season. Lots of deals and four $1,000 draws will be held. Volunteers wanted. Call Mary at 860-2356.
