Help for the women's centre
Glenn Nowag, President, and Cheryl Stone, Recording Secretary, for the North Okanagan Labour
Council made a presentation, on behalf of the N.O.L.C., of $1,000.00 to Micki Smith, Coordinator
and Leah Morgan, Director Kelowna Women's Resource Centre, to help them get through their tough
times as they fight to keep their doors open.
The North Okanagan Labour Council represents over 40
affiliated unions and all of their over 8,500 members, in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country,
Vernon and surrounding areas.
Micki Smith says this money
will indeed help them immediately, and she thanks the North Okanagan Labour Council and all of its
delegates for their most generous donation.
The Kelowna Women's Resource Centre is celebrating 25 years of service to Central Okanagan women
yet they find themselves in the difficult situation of having to close their doors this December as
they undertake a restructuring process.
