The ATU has incurred costs since we began occupation of our new meeting hall. These expenses are for renovations and also a large NOLC sign for the front of our building. A motion was made to pay the ATU up to $500.00 to help with these costs. MSC
NOLC donation to the Vernon Women's Resource Centre -- A motion was made to redirect the $400.00 donation (reported in the April minutes) which was going to go to the Vernon Women's Resource Centre over to The Vernon Women's Transition House. The reason for this is that the VWRC may be looking at closure in the near future. MSC

EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORT/ACTION CORRESPONDENCE
a) Worksafe BC Roll back on Regulation regarding Workers working alone at night, section 4.22.1. The Executive recommended that a letter be sent to Worksafe BC regarding this proposal which would allow employers to force late night retail workers to work alone -- putting workers at risk to save retailers money. The letter will be sent from the NOLC opposing this proposal asap. MSC
b) Day of Mourning -- A discussion was held by the executive to purchase a bench and plaque for Ben Lee Park in Kelowna, for recognition of our Labour Council tree. Karen Abramsen, UFCW 1518, will make inquiries and report back to us at a future meeting in a timely manner, so this can be completed before the Day of Mourning 2012.

REPORTS OF LOCAL UNIONS/COMMITTEE REPORTS/CLC REPORT:
Greg McGowan - CUPE 873
As of March 31, 2011 our imposed collective agreement ended. The Emergency & Health Services Commission, our employer, had the expired collective agreement rolled over until March 31, 2012 through the LRB. Again, another imposed one year contract. As of April 1, 2011 the BC Ambulance Services & BC Bed line became part of the Provincial Health Services Authority. We wait to see how this will impact the service, we remain cautiously optimistic.
Shane Curveon - ATU 1722
A contract ratification vote was held on May 1, 2011 - 66% were in favour. Other minor conclusions and rewording of some clauses were rewarded. The Executive Board will be returning to the bargaining table in approximately 18 months.
