Pat Bulmer, Unifor 2000 -- No doubt you heard the announcement this week the Kamloops Daily News is closing. It was a surprise announcement and more than 40 members of our local (Unifor 2000) are being put out of work. Our publisher at the Kelowna Daily Courier, Terry Armstrong, reassured staff that day that our situation is different and the Courier faces no similar threat. We're doing all right. Our union rep, Rob Munro, also commented to me that Kamloops was a unique situation. Long, long, longtime reporter JP Squire retired from the Courier. We will get a replacement body, although positions may be juggled a bit.
