FINANCIAL REPORT
M/S/C to adopt financial report as circulated
- Executive signed papers to apply for Community Savings Credit Union account. Moved by Ron Bobowski and seconded by Maria Tokarchuk to open account and approve signing authority on the paperwork. Motion: To accept Business member application form to accept two-signature signing authority. Resolved that President, Rec Secretary and Treasurer are hereby authorized on behalf of the North Okanagan Labour Council to do business with Community Savings Credit Union. Seconded by Maria Tokarchuk -- M/S/C

EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORT/ACTION CORRESPONDENCE
- Cheryl Stone nominated for Labour Council Development course, CLC Harrison Winter School, Week 4
- One spot for HEU, New delegate Shawna Rand for Week one Harrison winter school
- Unions in the community. Open spot.
Harrison Winter school nominations must be ratified at January meeting
Gert Beadle Award nominations tabled to Jan Meeting
CLC local procurement Policy -- Re; Lobby kit. M/S/C that copies be made and sent to city councillors
M/S/C that we renew $25 membership to Cosco (Council or Senior Citizen Organizations of B.C.)
Executive denied request from United Way for a $1,000 leadership donation

REPORTS OF LOCAL UNIONS, COMMITTEE REPORTS, CLC REPORT
Ron Dunn CUPE 3523 -- Local 3523 holding Xmas party for their own local, expected are 200 kids, 300 adults. Bad news for 2009 -- 4 different arbitrations coming up with school district and maintenance, Heavy equipment operators.

HEU Kelowna -- from convention, private contractors not covering wages for workers to go to union functions. Some union employees are working two jobs as their wage is not enough to live on.

Shane Curveon, ATU -- Bill Scarrow, ATU, elected to Lake Country municipal council. Graeme James elected to Kelowna city council. ATU family Xmas party had 275 people. ATU filed grievance against Far West of Vernon for contracting out. Still facing jurisdiction issue between Kelowna and Vernon bus routes. ATU executive elections are coming up. Merritt bus drivers now have contract.

Ron Bobowski, CUPW. Support union is on strike, 2,400 members across the country. New contract for the those members, who went back to work without a ratification vote.

Ron Bobowski, BC Fed convention - Jim Sinclair acclaimed as president. Stephen Lewis guest speaker. Petro-Can boycott supported due to lengthy CEP strike/lockout in Montreal.

Carole Gordon, Central Okanagan Teachers' Association -- Currently holding a vote on FSA action, Results available Thursday Dec 11 on COTA website. BCFed supported unanimously the FSA action plan. COTA will be holding a regional social justice conference on poverty and its effects on children, May 1 2009, tentative. Currently looking for planning committee members, and volunteers. NEW BUSINESS
-- EI Board of Referees appointments/nominations. Some interest expressed in 2 positions. Reopen nominations and vote in January. Submissions need to go to the CLC by Jan. 31.
-- Empty trustee positions tabled to February.
