North Okanagan Labour Council Secretary-Treasurer Louise Gibson presents a $500.00 cheque to Rose Jerkie and Alison Hayman with the Okanagan Regional Library's Rutland branch for its children's summer reading program.The North Okanagan Labour Council has gotten behind the United Way's Period Promise campaign. The labour council collected donations, and passed them on to the United Way, which donates them to H.O.P.E. Outreach and KARIS programs to distribute to their clients. Period Promise campaign is a United Way initiative. Period Promise is intended to reduce the prevalence of period poverty in the province of British Columbia, while also promoting the cause of menstrual equity.
