CFUW Kelowna is a non-profit organization of women who promote education and social change (eg. $10 day childcare) as a means to improving the lives of women. They participate in social and education activities for and about women. They also raise money for local scholarships, local non-profits that support women and education, and a school for girls in Africa.
Their International Women’s Day event is on Friday March 8.
CFUW Kelowna, with support of the North Okanagan Labour Council, is sponsoring the full length, award winning film ‘Little Stones’ about 4 young women who take on projects in 4 countries to combat Violence against women. Showings at 4 and 7 at French Culture Centre on Bernard.
CFUW will be collecting voluntary donations at the door, and selling Femenino coffee (supports women coffee bean farmers) and felted animals (hand-made) to raise money for bursaries and scholarships (both academic and trades) for local girls and women in financial need.
Donations will go to the Women's Shelter.
