CUPE members who work at the District of Coldstream are planning a rally at the Coldstream Municipal Hall, 9901 Kalamalka Road, at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 21st in front of the Municipal Hall. The Coldstream Council meeting happens at 6:00 p.m. Members are hoping to gather enough people to fill the Council Chambers. Parking is available on the street or in the church parking lot across the street. The CUPE 626 members voted 96 per cent in favour in a strike vote last month. Following the vote, the union applied to the Labour Relations Board to have a mediator appointed. Talks broke down in August with the District seeking a wage settlement lower than surrounding communities and below the provincial average for municipalities.
