From the BCFed Health and Safety Centre:
The BCFED OH&S Centre has released its 2019 public course schedule and course guide. If you are a member of the Health and Safety Committee in your workplace, please review the 2019 course schedule and make it part of your education planning at your next committee meeting. If you are not a member of your Health and Safety Committee, please forward this important information to them.
British Columbia employers falling under provincial and federal jurisdictions have legal obligations to provide occupational health and safety training for Health & Safety Committee members. For a Joint Health and Safety Committee to function effectively, members must take appropriate education and training. Education and training should cover the information members need to assist in creating a safe and healthy workplace. Employers cannot reasonably deny a request for this education.
Funded by the Workers Compensation Board of British Columbia and coordinated by the BC Federation of Labour, the BC FED OH&S Centre is the largest provider of this type of training in the province. Our training uses adult-oriented learning techniques aimed at preparing people in workplaces to take on a proactive role in the prevention of injuries and diseases. Anyone can attend OH&S Centre courses.
We have had unprecedented uptake to our workshops. Avoid disappointment and register soon. With enough notice, we may be able to schedule additional capacity to sold out workshops.
